Jim's Bio
Jim is originally from the mid Maryland area. He started in radio in the mid-1970's because he really wanted to be a rock musician or produce records, but didn't know exactly how to get into it, so he took up Broadcasting at the local community college. After interning briefly at a small station, his career was born...his first full time radio job was at WQCM in Hagerstown, MD. Since then, Jim has worked at WWMX and WBSB in Baltimore and WRQX, WGAY,WBIG and WASH in Washington DC. Jim moved to Texas in the year 2000, originally living in Austin. Now he's all ours! When he's not on the air, he also plays guitar and enjoys baseball and football. Jim is married to Sondra and has two daughters, Alicia and Holly, and our Westie, Bogey!

McCain's Use of "Barracuda" Ticks Off Heart Heart are protesting the use of "Barracuda" at the Republican National Convention. The group's Ann and Nancy Wilson issued a statement asking John McCain's campaign to stop playing the tune after it was used to introduce vice presidential hopeful Sarah Palin. However, the track was played again Thursday following McCain's acceptance speech, which left Nancy less than happy. "I think it's completely unfair to be so misrepresented . . . I feel completely f***ed over," she said. Alleged Cher Harasser Waives Court Appearance A Nashville man who allegedly harassed Cher at a club in the city earlier this summer waived an initial appearance in court Thursday and will now be indicted. Calvin Houghland is accused of public intoxication and disorderly conduct during the June 25 incident, in which it is claimed by police that he grabbed the singer around the waist before being asked to leave the venue. Cher did not press charges. Beatles Contract Earns Big Bid at Auction An auction of rock & roll memorabilia that was held Thursday in London featured the sale of some notable items. One of the priciest articles to exchange hands was the Beatles' first management contract, which features the bandmembers' signatures. Almost $425,000 was paid for the document, which was considerably more than what was outlaid for a notebook of Doors frontman Jim Morrison's poetry and lyrics (roughly $102,000), or one of Elvis Presley's guitars (about $46,000). Santana Still In Love With Life How does Carlos Santana stay energized after more than 40 years rocking out with his band, Santana? By remaining focused on the mystical side of consciousness, of course. "I try to stay in a state of perpetual wonderment, stay in love, stay happy and free from conflict," says the guitar legend. "I try my best to stay in this rhythm, where it's fun to be on this planet no matter what." PLUS . . .

Oates Solo Album Coming on the 23rd John Oates has booked a Sept. 23 release date for his second solo effort, 1,000 Miles of Life. Recorded in Nashville, the album includes eight original tunes, several cover songs and a host of guest appearances. "This is a very personal record for me and, without a doubt, the highlight of my recording career," says Oates. Prior to its street release, 1,000 Miles will be available for digital download exclusively on Amazon.com, beginning Sept. 9. Jackson Records Poetry-Inspired Album? Michael Jackson has recorded an album based on the writing of Scottish national poet Robert Burns, according to claims made by his friend David Gest. "Michael and I were originally going to do a musical on [Burns'] life with Gene Kelly directing and Anthony Perkins as executive producer," says Liza Minnelli's ex-husband. "They both died, so Michael and I put all the poems to contemporary music in his studio in Encino, [Calif.]" Bellamys, Doobie Show Brotherly Love The Bellamy Brothers will headline a Sept. 7 concert in Troy, Mo., that will benefit families affected by recent flooding in the state's Lincoln County. The duo is expected to help pull in at least $30,000 for the cause. In other fundraising news, Doobie Brothers star Michael McDonald will rock a Nov. 1 concert in Nashville to raise money for a high school band located in nearby Franklin, Tenn. Frampton Hard At Work on Next Album Peter Frampton has already done quite a bit of writing -- 27 songs -- for his upcoming album. By the time he decides to select the tracks, he wants a pool of 40 tunes to choose from. "Everything that is going to be on this next record is like an autobiographical look at me, historically as well as looking toward the future, and my observations along the way," says Frampton of the project's material. Miller in No Rush To Cut Original Songs It seems unlikely that Steve Miller will issue a new album of original material anytime soon. "I'm used to releasing a record and selling 2 or 3 million," comments the singer-guitarist, whose last studio effort was 1993's Wide Rivers. "I don't want to sell 22,000 copies. The whole label structure is falling apart." Meanwhile, the Steve Miller Band's fall concert schedule begins Oct. 22 in Clemson, S.C., and concludes Nov. 15 in Columbus, Ohio. Warwick To Be Honored at October Fundraiser Dionne Warwick is one of the two women who will be saluted at the 18th annual Divas Simply Singing event, which will take place Oct. 11 at the Wilshire Theatre in Beverly Hills, Calif. Patti LaBelle will help perform a tribute to the honorees at the affair, which will raise money for the HIV/AIDS charity organization Women Alive. Dance Just Like MJ, Right on Your Computer! A new online game in which players can impersonate Michael Jackson's famous footwork is said to be on the way. Fans with the best dancing moves can win prizes like a pair of round-the-world plane tickets, a Sony PlayStation 3, a plasma television or an iPod nano. The game will be available via the social-networking websites Facebook, MySpace and Bebo, beginning Aug. 22. Atlantic Records' Wexler Dies at 91 Former Atlantic Records Vice Chairman Jerry Wexler, 91, passed away Friday morning. Wexler, credited with coining the term "rhythm and blues," joined Atlantic six years after its formation and was the one responsible for bringing Aretha Franklin to the label.
