Dionne Warwick is set to be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, even though she wasn’t nominated for enshrinement this year. Dionne is being recognized with the Rock Hall’s ‘Musical Excellence Award,’ reserved for artists whose influence has dramatically shaped the musical landscape.
Reflecting on this unexpected honor, Warwick said, "In every game it’s usually three strikes and you’re out. I guess I hit a home run this time!"
In 2022, Dionne mused about the evolving nature of the Hall, suggesting it be renamed to 'The Music Hall of Fame' to better represent the diversity of its inductees.
Despite previous nominations, this recognition holds a special significance. It's an affirmation of Warwick's musical genius, often hinted at by industry insiders as a long-overdue nod. The award will also be presented posthumously to Jimmy Buffett, MC5, and Norman Whitfield.
